JWST Killing Nobel Prize Caliber Science

We at TEA Party in Space have been railing against JWST because not only is fiscally irresponsible, but it also kills science.  We had the JWST question and answer people tell us we were wrong, that JWST did not kill science.  We had scientists say we didn't know what we were talking about, even when their colleagues email us and tell us how jacked up "JW" really is.  We know where the bodies are buried.

Now we all know.  Special thanks go out to the New York Times for this article detailing how JWST is killing the morale and killing science, some of which is Nobel Prize worthy.

So they were dispirited last year when NASA announced that cost overruns and delays on the James Webb Space Telescope had left no room in the budget until the next decade for an American satellite mission to investigate dark energy that Dr. Perlmutter and others had been promoting for almost a decade.

The disciples who worship at the alter of JWST can spin this anyway the wish.  The bottom line is that JWST kills science.  JWST is bad for astrophysics.  How many webinars can they push on the American taxpayer before we say enough?  Here is just an abbreviated list of JWST victims:

Scientists say they believe in the math, that they believe in the tangible, and that they believe in reality.  The reality is that James Webb is destroying astrophysics and leaving nothing in its wake.  The sooner we have intellectual honesty with JWST and end this program, the sooner the United States, NASA, and SMD can move on and begin doing the nation's business in astrophysics.  Until then, its just a waiting game.  Until then, our nations best and brightest will move on to other disciplines.  No one in their right mind is going to wait for JWST when they could be studying something meaningful... unless you are a government bureaucrat who lives off of JWST.

There is nothing fiscally responsible about James Webb Space Telescope.  It will be $7 billion over budget if we believe NASA "this time".  JWST will be somewhere between 8 to 14 years behind schedule.  The sad fact is that JWST is the poster child for everything that is wrong with our government.  The slow churning bureaucracy is being passed by.  Our children will not wait.

The House of Representatives has terminated JWST.  We should thank them.  As concerned citizens we should call our representatives in the house and thank them.  Feel free to use the app on the right hand side of our webpage.  The house wants to keep JWST dead, but unless they have support, Senator Mikulski and the senate tax and spenders will have their way with a $516 million dollar bailout earmark for JWST.

This isn't a NASA or space issue, it is a good government issue... and for that, every tea party member should call to end this.
